The Photographic Collection of the Bibliotheca Hertziana owns more than 1,300,000 photographic positives, negatives, transparencies, digital images and digital copies, most of which document Italian art from late antiquity to the present. In addition to the topography, architecture and art of Italy and in particular of the city of Rome, the artist and drawing sectors form further focal points of the collection.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEARCH
It is possible to search for depicted works or for depicted photographs. The standard search is for works, i.e. for a painting, a sculpture, a building, etc. The search results can be narrowed down by using filters. When searching for photographs, the focus is on photographic criteria, e.g. photographers, photo archives or photographic techniques. Filters can refine these search results too. It is possible to switch between the individual views of the works and the photographs.
